Former First Lady Michelle Obama is trash talking the Trump administration. This time, her target is First Lady Melania Trump. Michelle was speaking in New Orleans the same day the mainstream media were freaking out about Melania’s green jacket. “I couldn’t make those kinds of [fashion] mistakes, I was outstanding,” said Mrs. Obama. Well, poor Michelle was in for a brutal surprise with a trip down memory lane. Don’t miss this.
Michelle Obama has been raking in the big bucks as she crisscrosses the country speaking in front of any and every group who will have her. Last Friday, she was at the American Library Association’s annual conference in New Orleans.
The former first lady has graced the cover of over 100 magazines, but if she wasn’t married to Barack Obama and the darling of the radical left and mainstream media, we highly doubt she would have been on the cover of the most elite fashion magazine, Vogue, three times.
Still, Michelle sees herself as a fashion icon. Well, why not? Those phonies in fashion, like Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, gush over the former first lady, while she and every other magazine has shunned Melania Trump. No wonder Wintour’s former assistant wrote “The Devil Wears Prada,” all about Ms. Wintour’s evil ways.
The media was going nuts over the green jacket Melania wore to board Executive Foxtrot One, which said on the back, “I don’t really care, do you?” While in New Orleans, Michelle was on stage, having a conversation with Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden. The ridiculous “jacket-gate” controversy prompted Michelle to say, “Barack and I knew very early that we would be measured by a different yardstick.”
Michelle continued, “Making mistakes was not an option for us. We had to be good — no, we had to be outstanding — at everything we did. When you’re the first, you’re the one that’s laying the red carpet down for others to follow.”
Michelle’s obvious references to the red carpet and assertion that “making mistakes was not an option” for her, is, of course, her way of trash talking Melania Trump. Oh, not convinced? Well, take it from Michelle’s White House stylist, who weighed in and made it crystal clear that they both are ripping apart Melania’s fashion choices.
“Former first lady Michelle Obama’s former stylist Meredith Koop reminded us last weekend, first ladies never make unconscious fashion statements,” reported The Glow-Up. Koop posted an Instagram the same day Michelle made her comments.
“The writing’s on the wall y’all (and the fabric),” posted Koop. She then made it clear with a series of hashtags this was about the difference between Michelle and Melania’s fashion choices, including FLOTUS visit to Texas and how Michelle Obama is just superior in every way.
Now, this really isn’t fair. Melania Trump is a professional model with a perfect bone structure and fashion sense that has been compared to Jackie Kennedy. But, if this is the game they want to play, fine. Really, comparing Michelle Obama’s fashion choices to those of Melania Trump is like comparing a fine-tuned Stradivarius violin to a common fiddle.
Michelle Obama has made some strange fashion choices, and we find it rather petty for her stylist to be trash talking our first lady when she didn’t do Mrs. Obama any favors with the many fashion faux pas Michelle’s made over the years:
One thing a first lady makes headlines over is her fashion sense, especially when she goes on foreign trips. It’s imperative that she dresses according to customs while, at the same time, wowing the foreign press. Melania surpassed all first ladies since Jackie Kennedy when she accompanied POTUS on his first overseas trip in 2017:
TODAY reported, “President Trump embarked on his first official trip abroad. After touching down in Saudi Arabia, the president also made stops in Israel, Italy and Belgium. Melania Trump was by his side throughout the trip, and her stylish attire made international headlines.”
They added, “From flowing gowns to tailored suits, the first lady showcased her fashion sense with elegant pieces from some of the world’s top designers.”
Hey, we didn’t start this debate over who is the fashion queen. But, since no magazine has done the proper thing and given Melania a cover since she has been a stellar first lady, we thought to remind them that they are the ones who are missing out. As Americans, we are proud of First Lady Melania Trump and how she has represented our nation ever since she got to the White House.
