Ovince Saint Preux Will be Facing Tyson Pedro at UFC Singapore

The UFC’s Fight Night in Singapore will be beefed up with a light heavyweight fight between two contenders. Number eight-ranked Ovince Saint Preux will be trying to break his losing streak, as he faces number 12-ranked Tyson Pedro.

The UFC announced this new development through an official release that they made through the company website.

Saint Preux (22-11, with 17 victories via stoppage), went on a three-fight losing streak since he fought former champion and pound-for-pound king Jon Jones at UFC 197 in April 2016. However, the 35-year-old Haiti-born fighter was able to bounce back and put on a three-fight win streak against Marcos Rogerio de Lima, Yushin Okami, and Corey Anderson, respectively, before losing to Ilir Latifi via first-round submission last February in Orlando, Florida.

Tyson Pedro

Pedro (7-1, with all victories via stoppage), has been impressive in his UFC run, so far. After losing to Latifi at UFC 215 in September of the past year, he was able to bounce back to defeat Saparbek Safarov via first-round kimura submission at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia in February. He is currently 3-1 in the UFC since he made his debut in late 2016.

This upcoming card in Singapore will be headlined by a welterweight fight between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Leon Edwards. This fight would be Cerrone’s first his first-round TKO win over Yancy Medeiros in Austin, Texas last February. It was a fight that broke his previous three-fight win streak.

Edwards, on the other hand, has gone 7-2 in his UFC run that began in 2014. His two losses came at the hands of Claudio Silva and Kamaru Usman, but holds notable victories against Ultimate Fighter Season 11 alum Seth Baczynski, Bryan Barberena, and most recently Peter Sobotta, whom he stopped in the third round of their fight last March in London.

Also announced to be part of the card is the return to flyweight of Jessica Eye, as she faces Jessica-Rose Clark. Eye last saw action in January in St. Louis, where she defeated Kalindra Faria via unanimous decision.

Clark, on the other hand, is coming off a decision win over Paige VanZant, which took place on the same card.
